Tresor am Schottentor

In the ground floor of the former Viennese Banking Association, a recently renovated historic building in the city center of Vienna, opened one of the most secure and modern safe deposit box facilities. The design aims to reflect on the former use of the building as a financial institution and to present the current users with a discreet and exclusive environment, in which to deposit their valuable belongings. The entrance, clad in brass, leads to the lobby, from which the individual deposit areas are accessible. Timber slats in solid American walnut form a continuous ribbon, which houses the more private functions. On the opposite, street-facing side, the texture of the slats, is mirrored in the custom-made plastered profiles. The material palette is rounded up by the use of black steel for the reception and marble tiles for the flooring. All the details, like lighting fixtures and door handles were specifically chosen to highlight the quality and craft, with which the interior was made.
