Bosnia and Herzegovina is building at extraordinary speed. New architecture is reshaping its cities, ambitions and image, but speed alone tells us little about direction. The more important question is what kind of architectural culture is being formed while all this is happening — what values are gaining ground, what is being left behind, and what this generation will choose to carry forward. A country can change quickly without yet knowing what it wants to become. That is precisely what makes this moment worth looking at.

At the centre of the evening is Finished / Unfinished: each invited practice presents one realised project and one still in development — one showing what has survived reality, the other what can still change. Along the way, we ask: What is still worth creating? It is at the heart of BIG SEE’s annual theme UNFINISHED, asked here in Sarajevo and throughout the year to people around the world who design, build, make, question, teach, invest, commission and imagine what comes next. The evening also brings together Bosnia’s BIG SEE Perspectives and BIG SEE Winners 2018–2026 — different generations and stages within one evolving creative landscape. Their voices meet again at the BIG SEE Festival in Portorož, where the local conversation joins a wider international one.

Bosna i Hercegovina gradi se izuzetnom brzinom. Nova arhitektura mijenja njene gradove, ambicije i sliku o sebi, ali sama brzina govori nam malo o pravcu u kojem se kreće. Važnije pitanje je kakva se arhitektonska kultura oblikuje dok se sve to događa — koje vrijednosti dobijaju na značaju, šta ostaje iza nas i šta će ova generacija odlučiti ponijeti sa sobom u budućnost. Zemlja se može brzo mijenjati, a da još uvijek ne zna šta želi postati. Upravo zato je ovaj trenutak vrijedan pažnje.

U središtu večeri je Finished / Unfinished: svaki pozvani arhitektonski studio predstavlja jedan realizovani projekat i jedan koji je još uvijek u razvoju — jedan pokazuje šta je izdržalo test stvarnosti, a drugi šta se još uvijek može promijeniti. Usput postavljamo pitanje: Šta još vrijedi stvarati? To pitanje nalazi se u samom središtu godišnje teme BIG SEE-a, UNFINISHED, i postavljamo ga ovdje u Sarajevu, kao i tokom cijele godine ljudima širom svijeta koji projektuju, grade, stvaraju, propituju, podučavaju, investiraju, naručuju projekte i zamišljaju šta dolazi sljedeće. Večer također okuplja BIG SEE Perspectives iz Bosne i Hercegovine i BIG SEE Winners 2018–2026 — različite generacije i faze unutar jednog kreativnog pejzaža koji se neprestano razvija. Njihovi glasovi ponovo se susreću na BIG SEE Festivalu u Portorožu, gdje se lokalni razgovor povezuje sa širim međunarodnim dijalogom.
