Theater Square, Novi Sad

The Theater Square is located in the old town’s core of Novi Sad, in the pedestrian zone. Existing space was devastated and needed complete reconstruction. The idea of the project was to provide quality spaces for socialization and custom-made urban design. The project includes the complete reconstruction of infrastructure, paving, public and decorative lighting, horticulture, and urban furniture. As a reminder of the former Little Jewish Street, which existed until the 1970’s and demolished due to building of new theater, a Corten “memorial strip” which marks the line of former facades is incorporated in paving. At the end of the route of strip, information pillar is designed, which creates focal point of square. Around this pillar, the small fountain, seating area and greenery are formed. Project significantly increased green areas, especially high greenery, and included new cyclist lanes.
