For the exclusive project of the fine dining restaurant silva (Latin for forest) at the Naturhotel Forsthofgut, we were selected as architects through an invited competition. We are proud to have been able to bring the credo Taste the Forest to life through spatial design. The aim was to create a place that captures and makes tangible the essence of the forest through all the senses.
A key aspect of the design was the use of natural materials, such as wood, stone, and textiles made from natural fibers. Dark colors, deep moss green, earthy browns, and velvety berry tones create an atmosphere of mystique and comfort. The surface texture of the materials also played a central role. Pine cones inspired the texture of the wall paneling. For the high-quality wooden tables, entire tree trunk slices were dark-stained and brushed, allowing the fine grain of the annual rings to be felt. Warm lighting, reminiscent of sunlight filtering through treetops, creates an intimate atmosphere. silva is more than a restaurant – it is a homage to nature. A place where pleasure, cuisine, and architecture come together in perfect harmony.
