The 16-hectare site of NEUER STRAND is located in Breitenbrunn, northern Burgenland, at the heart of the Fertő-Neusiedler See UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The core design concept is to bring the lake to the building, rather than the building to the lake. As a result, the central marina building visually recedes into the landscape, framing the breathtaking natural scenery. By bending the two-story structure and breaking up its volume with strategic interruptions, the design creates a dynamic, multifaceted composition with numerous vantage points overlooking the lake and expansive reed beds.
The ground floor and stair cores are constructed using solid materials, while the upper floor and roof are made from prefabricated timber elements. The upper level houses a 160-seat restaurant and an event hall for up to 130 guests. Positioned above the reed beds, the elevated structure offers unparalleled views of the lake, enhancing the connection between architecture and nature.
