The LOVE LETTERS nightstands for HER and for HIM are a reminder of the importance of writing love letters in the age of digital communication and about how we forgot how to write and read in the parallel virtual reality. LOVE LETTERS raise awareness about how it is more important than ever to discover the essence, which is invisible to the eyes of artificial intelligence. Emotions are what we all live for. The expression of love and emotions is nevertheless the foundation of any relationship in order for it to further develop and flourish. Although the first thing we think of when we hear “love letter” is a mutual romantic confession of the two lovers in their infinitely long letters, LOVE LETTERS try to encourage individuals to write love letters to themselves. Let the bedroom be the place where we put on rose-coloured glasses, a place of intimacy and self-love primarily. Nightstands guide us to the most hidden corners of our hearts and above all to the essence of life – how to listen to ourselves first. The presence of LOVE LETTERS fills us with dreaminess, optimism, and positive feelings. Nightstands create intimate emotional stories for future generations and, at the same time, encourage individuals to radically change their mindsets about consumerism in order to reduce individual consumption of materials and products.
Love Letters are designed from a variety of materials and colours in the shape of a letter envelope on a metal base. Their placement in the bedroom catches our attention and invites us to open them, but mostly moves the individual’s boundaries of seeing the nightstand merely as a piece of storage furniture at the side of the bed. LOVE LETTERS encourage social activism regarding open questions and many challenges of the world we live in. They emphasise the importance of individuals and their responsibility for the challenges that arise as well as tackling those challenges. LOVE LETTERS accentuate the importance of openness and positivity of intimate relationships. The most important thing we can do as a society is to first and foremost change ourselves and thus influence the microenvironment in which we live in. It is time for love.
