The new children’s corner was realized as part of the Frequency store area, a project completed in 2019 on the second floor of the departures terminal at Ruđer Bošković Airport. In collaboration with graphic design studio Filburg, we created a unique space for children’s exploration and play, inspired by Ruđer Bošković himself. Guided by the Frequency store’s graphic identity, the corner features dominant colors of blue, yellow, and white.
In collaboration with the project designers, five custom-made toys were specially developed for the children’s corner, inspired by Ruđer Bošković’s explorations in mathematics, geodesy, astronomy, and optics. Each toy introduces one of these scientific themes through play, sparking curiosity: for instance, assembling the geoid (a shape Bošković defined) or tracing his force curve on a wall-mounted toy.
Beyond the toys, the corner includes a lounge area for rest or play. Visitors can read short highlights from the life of this great Dubrovnik and Croatian scientist via graphically designed floor and wall stickers. The toys suit children aged 4 to 10, with a universal design that delights local and international young travelers alike – leaving them with knowledge of Croatia’s most renowned scientist, Ruđer Bošković.
