With their slogan “Siente Mexiko” (Feel Mexico), the founders of Santos aim to make authentic Mexican cuisine a tangible experience. The restaurant on Praterstrasse is their third location. Their commitment to authenticity was also the guiding principle for the architectural concept. Far off conventional symbolism, the interior design translates culinary perfectionism.

Dedicated to Mexican authenticity, the design language of Luis Barragán Morfín is mandatory: Inspired by the Mexican architect, two massive masonry pillars, underneath which the restaurant’s floor space extends, are transformed into columnar sculptures with Aztec grace through a distinctive texture and tile pattern. Refined and well-proportioned details, as well as the transition of the columnar character into a central banquette element, are reminiscent of genuine Mexican identity. The resulting central sculpture is richly planted with vibrant desert vegetation. The walls are covered with natural, earthy clay plaster – in various shades of fineness and color.
