Product designer Nataša Perković from Sarajevo, founder of Studio Nataša Perković and educator at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, shares her thoughts for our 2026 festival theme “Too much? What is just enough?”. As a BIG SEE Nominator, she reflects on what “just enough” means for young designers starting their professional journey in Southeast Europe.
“You have in your mind and heart everything you need to shape a beautiful and good world.”
My message is for young designers from Southeast Europe – you have within you everything you need to start your professional journey in designing objects and spaces. As a young designer I was insecure about how good I could be on the European and global design scene as someone educated and coming from the margins of the design world – Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Consider your background and design training with “just enough” infrastructure an advantage. Furthermore, look inward – you have in your mind and heart everything you need to shape a beautiful and good world.
