Iasmina Onescu is an architect, researcher, and lecturer at the Polytechnic University of Timișoara, specializing in the vulnerability assessment of historical buildings. She is a PhD supervisor in architecture, a CNATDCU member (2024–2028), and a BIG SEE Nominator. As a practicing architect with 3DSN Design Studio, she works on residential projects and interventions on existing buildings. Onescu emphasizes balanced approaches in heritage architecture, focusing on interventions that are ‘just enough’ to meet contemporary needs while preserving the building’s authenticity.

When it comes to heritage buildings, the question of `what is just enough` highlights the tension between use, safety, preservation and symbolic value. The main challenge of the contemporary intervention is the excessive functional, technical and regulatory demand, without prioritizing the authenticity and cultural meaning. `Just enough` becomes a critical stance, aiming to promote the balanced and holistic approaches, without overwhelming the historical narrative of the building.
