The Constanța Casino, a nationally significant monument and emblem of both city and country, was built in 1903 as an Art Nouveau landmark on the Black Sea shore. In the interwar period, it reached its most coherent form, functioning as a prestigious social & cultural hub. Over time, political shifts, intrusive interventions, and long abandonment led to a critical state of degradation.
The 2020–2025 restoration removed aggressive additions from the past regime and re-established the interwar configuration as reference, while saving valuable elements from all historical layers. Beyond restoration, the project introduces a contemporary layer, aligned with its new cultural program. The Casino is reactivated as a public venue – with museum spaces, performance halls, event halls, and café – reconnecting the monument with the city and its people.
