Cat Beds

This is my cat – or was, sadly. I once made her a bed, and that’s how all of this started.

I’ve been making tufted rugs for a while, experimenting with different tufting guns for varying pile heights. I noticed something funny: every animal that came into my studio loved lying on the rugs. So I thought, why not make a special rug-bed for my own cat?

I designed it with raised edges, like a little nest, giving it a soft, curved teardrop shape – no corners, just something gentle and cozy, like how a cat curls up. Inside, I used my favorite wavy pattern, which I find calming – and apparently, so did she.

I got carried away and made eight in total, each different in color and shape. I kept the pink one for her, gave some to friends with pets, and sold a few. All of them are being used, which I love, because I care about making things that are both beautiful and functional.

My cat passed away this spring, but her bed is still with me. The others continue to live in homes where animals curl up and sleep on them – a comforting kind of memory to hold.
