BIG SEE Editors Talk

May 22, 13.00-14.00 | Grando, Obala 10, Portorož

Architectural and design media operate today within a condition of radical abundance. Projects, images, announcements, and opinions circulate continuously across global networks, producing an environment in which visibility is no longer scarce, but attention is. Within this landscape, editorial judgement becomes more than a process of selection. It becomes a form of cultural mediation that determines which ideas enter professional discourse and which narratives shape the way architecture is understood.

BIG SEE Editors Talk at BIG SEE Festival 2026 brings together editors from leading architecture and design publications across Central and South-East Europe to reflect on the role of media in this evolving ecosystem. Following the festival’s central theme — “Too much? What is just enough?” — the discussion considers how editorial practice navigates the tension between openness and discernment: how to remain receptive to emerging work while preserving the critical frameworks through which architecture gains meaning.

Rather than seeking definitive answers, the session invites a collective reflection between editors and the audience on how architectural discourse is produced, mediated, and sustained — and how it might retain depth, responsibility, and clarity in a time increasingly defined by excess.
