Café Babel

Café Babel is situated in the Bellevue Living complex, at the intersection of the city center, Tivoli Park, and the Lower Šiška district. Designed to be more than just a meeting place, the café was conceived through a collaborative process with renowned graphic designer Radovan Jenko. Its identity draws inspiration from the myth of the Tower of Babel, symbolizing linguistic and cultural diversity.

Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a striking black Neolith counter, set against a tinted mirror backdrop that reflects deep, atmospheric hues. The seating area integrates custom-made display cases, benches with letter-shaped backs, and uniquely cut tables. One of the key design features is the dynamic interplay between floors and walls, with all other elements reinforcing the overall visual narrative.

The floor is inlaid with 3.205 hand-crafted calligraphic letters, each containing fragments of 96 phrases, offering a tactile and visual experience. Meanwhile, a custom wallpaper – created in collaboration with Wall&decò – spans 64.34 square meters, incorporating 524 images. This seamless fusion of interior design and art constructs a modern Babylonian universe, immersing visitors in a mythical journey through rich symbolism, illustration, and language.
