This project follows the transformation of the KUMIKO façade, originally developed for the Japan Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, and later reused for the Women’s Pavilion in collaboration with Cartier at Expo 2025 Osaka – Kansai. Designed as a reusable system, approximately 70% of the original components were reassembled into a new spatial configuration inspired by Kyoto machiya.
Through careful data management, dismantling, transport, storage, and reassembly were realized, with the support of many stakeholders. Addressing both gender equality and sustainable material use, the project contributes to SDGs 5 and 12.
