Terminal for Tirana is a project developed around the art work by Karolina Halatek and is more than an art installation; it is a meditation on life, death, and the persistence of consciousness. Placed at the entrance of the University Hospital Center Mother Teresa, it resonates with visitors confronting fragility and renewal. The surrounding landscape, designed by Elian Stefa and Dea Buza, forms a constellation of circular green forms that preserve existing vegetation while expanding permeable surfaces.
Two pedestrian paths offer a choice between direct movement and a slower, reflective approach toward the elevated artwork at the site’s center. Subtle topographic shaping creates moments of pause, transforming a transit space into a place of quiet presence. By clearing visual noise and lifting the piece slightly from the ground, its light takes on a lighthouse-like role, guiding visitors toward contemplation. Its independent axis reinforces the work’s sculptural autonomy within the urban fabric.
