The RE-UP Side Table gives a second life to food packaging, transforming the disposable symbols of modern life into a legacy of enduring design. Once destined for landfills after a single use, these containers contribute to the more than 2 million tons of plastic waste generated in Thailand annually. The project initially utilized recycled polycarbonate (PC) sourced from industrial waste, alongside green ABS plastic.

Driven by a philosophy of long-lasting, sustainable making, the experiment soon evolved to embrace post-consumer polypropylene (PP) – the ubiquitous plastic from food delivery. Reprocessed through an industrial shredding and compression technique, this waste is reborn as a dense, tactile cylinder: raw in character, precise in form, and radical in its refusal to disguise its origins. To deepen the narrative, select pieces incorporate coffee ground waste, resulting in a warm mocha hue with organic, scattered flecks.

Sustainability is paired with sophisticated versatility through diverse tabletop options, ranging from recycled UHT milk cartons and rubber wood (a byproduct of the Thai rubber industry) to the timelessness of marble and glass. Each material brings a distinct aesthetic and function, allowing consumers to choose designs that fit seamlessly into their homes while supporting sustainable production. Timeless in silhouette, honest in material, and ethical by design, RE-UP does not ask you to accept less. It asks you to see more.
