Ulrike Franke Architecture – conceptual · cross scale · sustainable
The collaborative practice of Ulrike Franke Architecture in Darmstadt strengthens existing spaces through context sensitive, sustainable architecture with clear design objectives. We uncover untapped potential and develop aesthetic, spatial solutions that enable multiple uses, partitioning, and expandability—both today and in the future. Our focus is equally on urban and rural existing buildings of various functions; we create high quality conversion and development concepts for new user groups, while taking future usage scenarios into account. In addition, we design and realize new build projects that embody the same sustainable and adaptable principles. Special attention is given to the interface between private and public space.
We accompany projects through all phases of service—from the first sketch to completion—maintaining a close, personal dialogue with our clients. In residential projects, we integrate self developed energy concepts and life cycle analyses into design and execution, and manage the associated funding measures to optimize economic efficiency and environmental performance.
As an owner managed studio, we address the social and ecological challenges of our time, always staying focused on the essentials and communicating with a clear architectural language. We design durable, sustainable, and timeless architecture that provides an atmosphere allowing space for change.
