ARTEC

Studio ARTEC is an architectural practice based in Prishtina, Kosovo, established in 2010 by architect Ilir Llonçari. At ARTEC, architecture is understood as a cultural reflection, rather than a technical exercise. Each project begins with a search for meaning, exploring the relationship between people, place, memory, and time. The studio approaches architecture as a discipline that transforms human needs, values, and aspirations into spaces with clarity, purpose, and lasting relevance.

Rooted in authenticity, storytelling, and the honest use of materials, ARTEC seeks solutions that emerge from context rather than convention. Cultural awareness, ecological responsibility, and the richness of human experience are central to the studio’s work, informing an approach that values substance over spectacle and permanence over trends. Positioned as di°verge|ent, ARTEC deliberately questions established assumptions in pursuit of architecture that is both contemporary and enduring. The studio believes that meaningful architecture is not defined by novelty, but by its capacity to remain relevant, adaptable, and connected to the people and cultures it serves.

The studio has received international recognition, including the BIG SEE Award 2026 for ZUCCA cucina, multiple BUILD Magazine Awards, and SHARE Architecture Awards shortlist nominations. Selected projects include HORIZON Mixed-Use Complex, Buzuku Bookstore, Telegrafi Offices, PRISTINE, ATOMI Institute, DUKË Bar, Zone Club, Gjiks & Chicks, NONA Eatery, Burger King Prishtina, REDONI CB, and the Barista’s Coffee Shop chain.

Ilir Llonçari is an architect, educator, and founder of studio ARTEC in Pristina, Kosovo. His work is guided by the belief that architecture is a cultural reflection, revealing how societies think, what they value, and how they choose to inhabit the world. Approaching architecture as more than the design of buildings, he explores the relationships between people, place, and time. His work is driven by questions of authenticity, identity, and meaning, seeking solutions that emerge from context rather than convention and remain relevant beyond changing trends.

Through professional practice, teaching, and public speaking, Llonçari has developed a diverse body of work spanning hospitality, residential, commercial, educational, and public projects. His approach is defined by critical inquiry, cultural awareness, and a commitment to clarity in both design and thought. He sees architecture not simply as a response to the present, but as a way of understanding the forces that shape it and contributing to the future that follows.
