The reconstruction of Fairmont Golden Prague (2020 – 2025), led by TaK Architects, builds on the original Brutalist concept from 1968 – 1974, conceived as an integration of architecture, design, and fine art. The project included a complete structural renewal of the 320-room hotel, remediation of deteriorated structures, and partial rebuilding of selected sections.
The restoration proceeded alongside the implementation of new technologies, including a geothermal system and upgraded water management. In addition to conserving key artworks, new, site-specific works were created in collaboration with local artists and manufacturers. As part of the broader Staroměstská brána initiative, the project enhances the permeability of the ground floor and expands public space, redefining the hotel’s relationship with the city.
