Despite this, many industries still lack tools that meet not only the basic expectations of industrial design and smart technology but also address critical aspects such as ergonomic design and reusability, which significantly enhance a product’s marketability.

Nimue is a smart device designed to monitor the quality of natural waters, playing a crucial role in maintaining a more livable aquatic environment. This entry demonstrates exceptional problem-solving awareness and design expertise. Nimue stands out among technical tools due to its innovative approach to design and functionality. The design focuses on intuitive usability, aesthetic appeal, and alignment with the principles of the circular economy.

The buoy’s body is thoughtfully engineered to be disassembled and reused at the end of its life cycle, embodying a modular construction that ensures ease of assembly. A prominent feature is the large handle on the top, deliberately designed to simplify placement and removal from boats, docks, and land—a key component of the product’s design ethos.

The development process involved a systematic analysis of the use, transportation, storage, deployment, and assembly processes associated with water monitoring devices. These insights informed the new design and characteristics of the smart buoy. The modular construction of the smart buoy further ensures easy assembly and maintenance.
