Moon Rock – Anthe – seat by Markov Studio, designed by Studio Furthermore

The Moon Rock Anthe seat is made entirely from scrapped car wheels that Studio Furthermore has recycled with their unique aluminium foam process resulting in a space lava like materiality. Studio Furthermore offers us a glimpse into a not-too-distant future, which sees space mining provide much of the scarce feed material with which industry depends, taking the strain off of Earth’s diminished resources.

Creating furniture and lighting pieces in lunar lava stone-like materials, the studio imagines working with exotic space lava as marble is worked today. Beyond the poetic vision of a speculative future solution to materials scarcity lies an expansive research into the near endless material possibilities and solutions offered by imaginative recycling. Studio Furthermore has developed a method of recycling scrapped car wheels into aluminium foam furniture.
