Ľubica Šimkovicová

An expert in energy and sustainability concepts, building design, and urban development. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. She works as an expert juror in competitions focused on building renovation and energy concepts for new neighborhoods.For many years, she has been the director of the Passive House Institute Slovakia. She coordinated numerous projects at the Office of the Chief City Architect in Bratislava, which addressed a wide range of topics related to climate change, housing stock renewal, and positive energy districts.In 2018, she founded the Manifest2020 initiative, which addresses the climate crisis in Slovakia. In 2021, it became an official partner of the New European Bauhaus project. In 2022, in collaboration with Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, she organized the so-called “Paper Partition System” in several cities across Slovakia, providing shelter for people fleeing Ukraine and arriving in Slovakia. This system was designed by architect Shigeru Ban, who was at the time a member of the High-Level Roundtable of the New European Bauhaus.
