The existing building no longer met the needs of the family who lived there, but instead of tearing it down, it was rebuilt and expanded using a wooden construction method. While the northern half remained standing, the southern part was adapted and expanded – here, old and new were creatively woven together to form an airy and bright living area.
Divided into different zones from a central block – which contains a prep kitchen – an air space opens above the dining area, connecting the ground floor with the attic and the gallery. Since the façade and roof needed to be renovated anyway, all the tracts were brought together through a new uniform design. Located on the edge of a settlement, on a gently sloping hillside, it overlooks the valley as far as the iconic Traunstein. Previously only enjoyable from the patio, the panorama is now experienced throughout the living area.
