House M is a part of semi-detached houses in Žirovnica, in the Gorenjska region, designed as a home for a family who moved to Slovenia, seeking distance from the bustle of the city and a life closer to nature. The guiding principle in shaping the interior was to create a home for mountain enthusiasts and bring a piece of nature into the living space, through a thoughtful combination of colors, materials, and textures.
The floor plan allows the living area and kitchen to be arranged on the ground floor, connected to a private garden, while the bedrooms on the upper floor open toward views of the surrounding mountains. The kitchen and living area are connected by a dark volume with a fireplace, forming the central heart of the house, where the family spends most of their time. Throughout the interior, a cooler, blue-grey palette is combined with white and black, carefully selected for clients who enjoy spending their free time high in the mountains. Warm wooden accents and the texture of vertical slats evoke the feeling of a soft walk through the forest before returning home.
