
Gjergji Islami
Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, Polytechnic University of Tirana, Albania
Gjergji Islami is an Albanian architect and educator. He studied Architecture in Eastern Mediterranean University (Cyprus), Conservation of Cultural Heritage at the University of Urbino “Carlo Bo” (Italy) and completed the PhD studies in the Polytechnic University of Tirana.
Since 2004, Islami has contributed as lecturer and researcher in the Department of Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Tirana (PUT), and from 2022 holds the position of Associate Professor. His academic focus spans architectural design, housing, environmental sciences, planning, and cultural heritage conservation. Islami has coauthored books and curated exhibitions on socialist architecture in Albania.
In the period 2013-2017, Islami held the position of Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism (PUT).
He also has an active engagement in the professional field as an architect and planning consultant. During the last 20 years he has been collaborating with well-known offices on important projects and international competitions by winning several prizes.
