A kiosk as a pilot project for the Building Transition: The small pavilion was built as locally as possible, using reused materials sourced from nearby construction sites and a 1970s residential building scheduled for demolition. Windows from renovation projects expanded the material pool. In collaboration with the Belwerk collective and Plan B carpentry, the design evolved from the available recycled materials.
Beams from locally felled trees form the supporting structure and frame the “70s”- aluminum doors. Reused attic sheets, windows, doors, and a former staircase balustrade complete the pavilion. Overall, 93% of the materials could be directly recycled. Finished in August 2024, the kiosk has since become a lively neighborhood meeting place.
