On the Schnepfegg Pass between Schnepfau and Bizau, a traditional Vorsäß has been made usable again throughout the year. On the site where the inn “Ochsen” burned down in 1954, a small hut for seasonal use was later built. Today, it has once again become a place for living and working, located next to the listed Wendelinskapelle from 1636. The former agricultural section was rebuilt, while the residential part was carefully renovated.

A winter garden and roof glazing were removed, circulation was reorganized, and a new staircase replaces the former spiral stair. The Schopf now forms a clear entrance zone and a filter between working and living. The beekeeper’s room is directly accessible. Inside, the floors and the coffered ceiling were preserved, the kitchen enlarged, and the wood stove retained. Photovoltaic panels are discreetly integrated into the roof. A project that shows: Revitalization means continuing a story, not reinventing it.
