The municipal construction yard and recycling center in Mauterndorf reinterprets the traditional, elongated building typology of the Lungau region in a contemporary manner. Its façade is characterized by alternating open and closed vertical larch elements. Three volumes – construction yard, storage units, and recycling center – line the northern access road and form a U-shaped layout around a central maneuvering yard.
Functions and access are clearly organized from the north, while the arrangement provides protection from northern and western winds. The recycling center operates as a drive-through system. Green waste and glass containers are accessible from the north outside opening hours, with additional drop-off points along a covered lane. A centrally positioned office ensures full supervision. The construction yard includes four garages and staff facilities. Following the natural slope, the timber-clad buildings integrate harmoniously into the landscape.
