Antonina Ilieva graduated from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy – Sofia, in 2006 and gained her initial work experience in the studio of I/O architects in the period 2007-2012. In 2013-2014 she worked on a research on the subject of Contemporary Japanese Residential Buildings and Spaces, which also took her to a one-year specialization in Japan evolving into her doctoral research, completed in 2024. Antonina was a part of the managing partnership of the studio dontDIY in the period from 2014-2019. Antonina is currently senior assistant professor at the Public Buildings Department of the Architecture Faculty at UACEG and lead architect and manager of PONY architects. She is interested in successfully applying the lessons of theory to architectural practice to achieve a meaningful and quality-of-life-enhancing built environment. Therefore, she teaches, researches various forms of collaboration, and sometimes writes about architecture.
