Martin Josst

Delugan Meissl Associated Architects, Austria

Martin Josst is one of four partners at Delugan Meissl Associated Architects, one of Austria’s most internationally successful architectural studios, based in Vienna and founded in 1993 by Elke Delugan Meissl and Roman Delugan. In addition to numerous residential block projects in Vienna, characterized by uncompromising conceptual design and bold formal language, they first attracted international attention at the Venice Biennale in 2006 and at the first Architecture Biennale in China in the same year.

They gained worldwide fame with the completion of the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart in 2008 and the iconic Eye Film Institute Netherlands building in Amsterdam in 2011. To date, six monographs have been published on their work. Their buildings are designed for an intense experience of space, they are multi-layered and radical, and they leave no one indifferent. Architecture that shows speed, weightlessness, that is about to take off, or creates “intense rest,” as its authors call this experience.
