Gerdi Papa

Lecturer, Researcher, and Architect Head of Creative Industries Department, Barleti University, Albania

An accomplished architect, academic, and researcher specializing in digital fabrication, parametric design, and sustainable architecture. He holds a PhD in Architecture and Urban Design from a joint program between Polis University and the University of Ferrara, where his thesis explored sustainable solutions through end-of-life materials and digital procedures. Gerdi currently serves as the Head of the Department of Creative Industries at Barleti University, Tirana, where he manages curriculum development for programs such as Interior and Product Design and Digital Arts in Creative Industries. He is also the creator and leader of the university’s Creative Maker Space and recently the Creative Director at Barleti University.

His professional experience includes architectural design, project management for innovative business and territorial development models, research, and teaching in architecture and design. Previously, he worked with Fondi Shqiptar i Zhvillimit and Metropolis Shpk, where he contributed to a range of projects from award-winning architectural projects and urban design competitions, to the development of innovative business models in the creative industries. Gerdi’s expertise extends to algorithmic design through various digital design tools such as Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, and 3D modeling software. His work has been featured in numerous publications, and he has been an active contributor to Tirana Design Week, Tirana Architecture Week, Tirana Architecture Triennale and other design platforms.
