The Addiction Therapy Center Salzburg is the result of a cooperative planning process on the former parking site of the Christian Doppler Hospital. The project addresses the complex urban interface between public space and the hospital campus, previously fragmented by traffic and parking infrastructure. Together with adjacent developments, the building forms a new urban edge, responding to the intersection of Ignaz-Harrer-Straße and Guggenmoosstraße, reinforced by an award-winning landscape design.
The center consolidates previously dispersed outpatient and inpatient addiction services into a single facility, serving as a first point of contact, a place for therapy and rehabilitation, and a meeting space for aftercare groups. Architecturally, a three-story base with clinical and therapy functions supports two vertical volumes housing day clinic, administration, and inpatient rooms. The building is unified by continuous bands of green-tinted, precast concrete with integrated planted elements, creating a distinctive yet calm architectural identity closely connected to the hospital via a translucent bridge.
