Nominator's statement

BUUM Studio was founded in 2025 in Thessaloniki, Greece. With experience in custom upholstery and interior design, they developed a strong understanding of materials, comfort, and the relationship between objects and space. BUUM Studio designs furniture, objects, and small conceptual collections that combine functionality with storytelling. Their work explores the balance between craftsmanship and contemporary design, often using upholstery as a central element to shape form, texture, and comfort. As a young studio entering the furniture market, BUUM focuses on creating thoughtful pieces with a clear identity—objects that connect everyday use with narrative and atmosphere.

SEASHELLS 3D SURFACE

There are worlds we can see, touch, and understand—and others that remain unseen, beyond imagination.
Beneath the surface, in the silent kingdom of the sea, life moves gracefully, leaving behind delicate marks—traces of existence shaped by time, water, and movement. As they move , Seashells draw fragile patterns on the ocean floor, natural artworks that disappear with the currents, never meant to be discovered.

Seashells 3D Surfacecaptures this invisible beauty —freezing a moment that nature lets slip away.

Through organic forms,  the mystery of underwater life is revealed—soft imprints transformed into tangible design. The surface invites you to see, touch, and feel what once belonged to the deep—a timeless dialogue between nature, materials , and human senses.
 ODOSHI TABLE & FLOOR LIGHT

ODOSHI Light is part of the SOZU collection, a series of objects that translate the rituals and sensory balance of Japanese gardens into contemporary living environments.

Inspired by the traditional Shishi-odoshi, ODOSHI captures the essence of rhythm, pause, and release through light and movement. Its form is defined by a precise, angled cut—referencing the simplicity of bamboo—while its upper element gently tilts, allowing the user to modulate both the direction and intensity of light. This interaction transforms illumination into a dynamic, almost meditative experience, adapting seamlessly to different moments of everyday life.

Designed in both floor-standing and table versions, ODOSHI acts as a quiet, sculptural presence, bringing a sense of calm, balance, and intentionality into the space.

TORNO LOUNGE CHAIR

We envisioned a super lounge armchair with an inviting, comfortable backrest. After many explorations and ideas, we created TORNO—an armchair defined by fluid lines and offered with three distinct backrest options, each delivering its own unique sense of comfort and character.

The wooden connecting details complete the design, adding warmth and craftsmanship while creating a visually engaging profile from every angle.
