The idea behind the Mela chair was to create a piece that has a distinctive character, combining the typology of the classic chair with an upholstered shell (seat and backrest) with the poetic beauty of a wooden chair.
The mid-century inspired wooden structure embraces the upholstered backrest, creating a perfect symbiosis of the contrasting elements.
It was a challenge to create a chair that is suitable for both home and contract use, that offers the comfort of an upholstered chair, but keeps the elegance and proportion of a thin and visually light wooden chair.
The Mela chair is available in 6 different types of wood (oak, walnut, maple, elm, cherry and pear), with various natural finishes (oils and soaps) upholstered with a range of leathers or fabrics.
After the design of the Mela chair, a collection of upholstered furniture was developed based on the same design language – the Mela lounge collection.
The collection consists of an armchair, lounge chair and sofa, which comes in different dimensions.
