The concept of this chair is rooted in the form and structure of a cardboard box. The starting point was an abstract exploration of objects whose stability depends on being filled – gaining their strength from what they contain. This led to the idea of reinterpreting the familiar cardboard box as a chair.
By preserving its characteristic geometry, I transformed the box into a functional object. Material translation played a central role: the thickness of steel sheets parallels that of cardboard, yet unlike cardboard, steel can support the weight of a person. Here, the internal reinforcement of the box is replaced by folded and welded steel sheets, creating stability without additional components.
The design balances playfulness and precision. Sharp, geometric forms are softened by their reinterpretation, while the choice of material ensures durability. Each part is fitted with accuracy and joined by spot welding, highlighting both structural clarity and craftsmanship.
