Duene

In Drösing, where winds once shaped shifting sand dunes, duene offers a sculptural resting place for cyclists along the EuroVelo 13 route. Designed by mischer’traxler studio, the piece echoes the dune’s soft, flowing forms through yellow metal rods and nets, subtly integrated into the surrounding landscape.

Inspired by the site’s dynamic past, the lightweight structure is minimally anchored, allowing wind, light, and rain to pass through freely. Hammocks and bike racks invite passersby to pause and recharge – without disturbing the fragile ecosystem.

Developed from a computer-generated 3D model, its open wireframe form is intentionally left visible, giving duene a transparent, airy presence. More than a rest stop, it is a functional sculpture – a quiet dialogue between nature and design.
