In the historical context of ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the project repurposes the existing spaces of a listed, neo-Renaissance building overlooking the 16th-century canal of Brede Haven as renovated office spaces. The project is grafted onto the complex historical layering, where the leading role is entrusted to the architectural furnishings and the staircase. Sculptural volumes, derived from a shared oval matrix, inspired by the art of Renaissance armor, and composed of thin sheets of burnished steel and brass, articulate the space with unexpected geometries and iridescent surfaces, concealing all technical systems.

A suspended staircase, traced by a continuous brass ribbon that accompanies its course and supports the glass balustrades, forms the visual and distributive centerpiece, connecting the three levels and blending with the project’s material vocabulary. Targeted interventions remove incongruous elements, restoring continuity and clarity to the structure. The new insertions are shaped as deliberate stratifications, capable of activating dynamic relations between historical memory, contemporary use, and the broader urban context.
