The interior design of the apartment is the result of the owner’s initial desire to reward themselves with a new kitchen, which soon grew into a comprehensive renovation of the main living area of the apartment – the kitchen, dining room, and living room. The architect designed a new spatial organization that, although spread over a limited area, creates the impression of a larger, brighter, and more airy space.
The existing living room and dining room area was open, but functionally uncoordinated – a small sofa was located in the middle, facing the wall, while individual zones were spatially suffocating. The architect proposed an inverted layout, a small twist that brought about a big change. The focal point of the space became a floating block with a fireplace that acts as a visual partition between the living room and dining room, which the architect designed and had custom-made. This simple but crucial change introduced a new logic of movement and spatial dynamics.
