In Purbach, UNESCO World Heritage Neusiedlersee/Fertő, a spatial laboratory for a musician and a scientist has been created under strict nature conservation regulations. The building, between vineyards and forest with a view to Lake Neusiedl, blends harmoniously into the landscape thanks to untreated materials and a clear, modular design language.

The structure is designed as a flexibly cuboid in golden ratio with 2 levels. The boundaries of the 6 m high hall are permeable and flexible, while the studio below is enclosed on 3 sides. The interior is formed by a solid wood construction, which makes this room acoustically comparable to a resonance chamber. The hall above, with all living functions, opens to the surrounding via glazed walls. Sliding wooden elements on three sides form a walk-in filter and provide privacy, sun, weather protection, and thermal insulation. The sensitive integration into the nature reserve creates the impression that the building has always been part of this landscape.
