The project is a contemporary residential complex on the southwest coast of Java, Indonesia, composed of 24 row houses arranged along a private inner street. The architectural concept reinterprets the traditional Javanese Joglo house through a modern lens. Each dwelling is defined by a central skylight at the roof ridge, acting as a natural ventilation shaft that releases warm air and brings daylight deep into the interior. This principle of passive cooling ensures comfort in the tropical climate without mechanical systems.
The open, vertical layout connects living spaces across two floors, creating a bright, airy interior that encourages visual and spatial continuity. At its center, an elevated void with a bridge links the upper bedrooms, while a sculptural staircase descends to the ground floor, where the living area merges with the kitchen and dining zone. These interiors naturally extend to a private outdoor terrace, providing a tranquil space for rest and social interaction.
