Aleksandra Lazić is a graduate of the Fashion and Textiles program at the Faculty of Design in Ljubljana. She consciously and modernly incorporates sustainable principles into her collection designs to reduce the negative impacts of the textile and fashion industry on people and the environment. In her third year of study, under the mentorship of Assistant Professor Matea Benedetti, she created a sustainable clothing collection focused on reusing and transforming surplus garments into new design solutions. With her collection “Niti neona,” in which she restructured waste jeans and enhanced them with neon threads, she received recognition from the professional jury at the Faculty of Design’s fashion show as part of the Ljubljana Fashion Week (LJFW 2023). She was awarded for the best collection, receiving the LJFW WOW and Goodlife Magazin awards.

In 2022, she received an award for designing a sustainable solution, a Unique Garment made from discarded men’s suits, in the Eco-Schools program design challenge. The garment she created under the mentorship of Assistant Professor Matea Benedetti was showcased at the Ljubljana Fashion Week (LJFW 2022), where she received recognition from the jury for the most creative solution for the “Upcycled Men’s Suits” project. At the Faculty of Design, in 2023, she received the Rozman Award for the best student of the year. In 2024, under the mentorship of Assistant Professor Metod Črešnar, MA CSM, she successfully completed her thesis, where she deeply engaged with sustainability and created an innovative modular and multifunctional women’s clothing collection made from waste shirting fabric and discarded garments. With her responsible and creative design approach, exceptional academic results, and award-winning works, she demonstrates that she is a promising young designer with great potential.
