Wine barn and square, Valtice

The traditional South Moravian CHÂTEAU VALTICE Winery – Valtice Wine Cellars, a.s. – is part of the unique Lednice-Valtice area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The production area is situated next to the magnificent garden of the chateau of Valtice, below the romantic colonnade at Rajstna.
The front part of the establishment is formed of the new building of the Wine Barn in three parts – the Wine Square, a public pleasure garden with a water cascade, and a stylized residential vineyard with a labyrinth.
In its above-ground part the Wine Barn offers a stylized wine showroom with characteristic brick vintage wine boxes. The open space in the roof allows a number of valuable historical fragments in the interior to be displayed – for example, a historic wine press. The underground part of the company shop, accessible by a monumental spiral staircase, uses traditional semi-forgotten masonry techniques to create a brick-vaulted wine-tasting cellar and a central rotunda with a connection to the historic Cross Cellar (A.D. 1640) by means of a tunnel.
