Tomaž Ebenšpanger

Tomaž Ebenšpanger is an Architect and Assistant Professor at the University of Maribor, working in the Department of Architecture of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture. In 1995 he graduated from the Laboratory of Artificial Perception, Systems and Cybernetics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Ljubljana. During his studies at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana, which he graduated from in 2006 under the mentorship of dr. Aleš Vodopivec. He continued his postgraduate education in Australia under Professor Glenn Murcutt, who was awarded the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize. Until 2011, he worked as an independent architect in various architectural groups. Until 2016, he worked as a partner with Meta Kutin in the architectural office Skupaj arhitekti, where he now works independently and is creatively dedicated to an architecture that follows the idea of sensitive, restrained and conscious intervention in space and believes in architecture as an art and sustainable principle. He is a long-standing and active member of the Association of Architects of Ljubljana, the Association of Architects of Maribor, and the Association of Architects of Pomurje. Since 2015 he has been registered as a licenced architect in the register of the Chamber of Architecture and Space in Slovenia. He has also served several times in the competition committees of public architectural competitions. As an equal author, he is the winner of numerous awards and recognitions in public architectural competitions. For the project House for Simple Living, he received the Golden Pencil 2021, awarded by the Chamber of Architecture and Space of Slovenia for an outstanding realisation. With his architectural activity he is also recognised and present in the international space. He is co-author of several national and international exhibitions in the field of architecture and space culture. His works are published in many domestic and foreign journals and online platforms.
