PIECE OF MIND - A MEDICATION COMPANION

Medication has become better and is more available than ever, but patients haven’t become better at taking it. Over 50% of all patients have troubles taking medication. Current solution overlook young people who have less complex but equally important drug schedules for chronic diseases, mental-health, etc... PoM solves that: It is a toolset consisting of a case for drug storage and a pin that acts as a mobile docking station, so the user always knows where their medication is. The case features a new patent pending drug tracking technology for medication on the go, therefor improving treatment consistancy and giving back autonomy to users.

MIRA - MAKE ROOM FOR RECOVERY

Over decades, intensive care has evolved into a maze of machines built for survival. While research shows that less sedation speeds up recovery, ICUs remain cluttered, cold, and intimidating places. MIRA reimagines the ICU as a place for recovery, connection, and care. A transformable hub centralises and organises machines behind the bed, reducing clutter and freeing up space for welcoming furniture that fosters family involvement and early mobilisation. By balancing privacy, medical monitoring and personalisation, MIRA transforms the ICU into a healing space that feels like home, helping patients take their first step back into their lives.

NWTN - PORTABLE TRUCK WEIGHING

NWTN (Newton) took a second look at a seemingly “finished” product - portable vehicle scales. Together with the Swedish police I got the opportunity to take a closer look at how the van of the road safety unit looks like. What immediately stood out: Half of the truck was packed with 10-12 huge scales, each weighing 25kg. Therefor police officers must drive around and setup 250kg of scales every day, often multiple times a day in different locations, a very physically demanding task. What if every police car could be equipped with a smaller and lighter vehicle weighing device and be available at any time? NWTN utilizes a basic physics principle where you can calculate the weight of a car by measuring the tires air-pressure and the contact area between the tire and the road. This measurement process can be done without putting NWTN under the wheel, next to it is enough. So, a single device and measuring each wheel in sequence is sufficient - eliminating the need for 12 heavy scales. Furthermore, it needs to be less sturdy, because it doesn’t need to hold up to the weight of a 40-ton truck. This completely different approach leads to seemingly insane ergonomic and usability improvements. If you compare a single NWTN device to a full standard set of vehicle scales, the weight can be reduced by 98% and the size by 95%, so NWTN can be stored in any regular police car.

Silvester Koessler
Hi, I am Silvester, an industrial designer from Austria. The last three years I’ve spent working and studying in Stockholm and northern Sweden. Where I have met and worked with so many talented designers. For me the ultimate goal within product design is to create something people want to use everyday.
