The Punto series demonstrates the evolution of surface structure into three-dimensionality. The metal plates used in Punto products are perforated at seemingly random intervals, resulting in a tantalizing play of light and shadow. The light intensity, viewing angle, and placement of the item create a two-dimensional form rich with nuances that reflect the inner structure and detail of its solid counterpart. Both solid form and shadow combine to create a mesmerizing effect. This light show can either follow nature’s course—changing with the seasons and the time of day—or be choreographed to suit a particular mood and environment as part of a broader artistic concept.
Either way, Punto is a unique and eye-catching work of art and design that fits harmoniously into a wide range of established and newly conceptualized styles. The high-end edition, Punto Nero, refines and intensifies the coupling of rough bronze with fine sanding on a darkly patinated surface. The resulting velveteen appearance and smooth perforations give a completely new feel to metal surfaces. Even under intense light, the surface contours appear shaded, mimicking the true shadow cast below.
