Luther Alpenbrasserie & Bar

Luther Alpenbrasserie & Bar in Schladming reinterprets authentic Austrian cuisine with influences from the Alps-Adriatic region, creating a contemporary dining destination with a stylish ambiance for all age groups. The result is a warm and inviting atmosphere that encourages relaxed, cozy dining.

Housed in one of Schladming’s oldest buildings – dating back to the 15th century – the project was shaped by the constraints and charm of its historical structure. The first challenge was to repurpose the vacant space, which consisted of a large open room with existing openings to the west and north. In some areas, meter-thick stone walls were carefully pierced to enlarge existing windows or introduce new ones, revealing the natural stone and enhancing the historic character.

A striking glass façade lends the building a sense of understated elegance and invites passersby with transparency and light. Upon entering, guests catch their first glimpse of the interior through the glass, which reveals a harmonious design rooted in natural tones and locally sourced, sustainable materials like wood and stone. Various shades of green – reflecting the Alpine landscape – dominate the color palette, while soft, rounded forms throughout the space pay homage to the historic round arches found in the building’s architecture. This curved design language is consistent throughout, extending even into the washrooms.

Textural contrasts, such as structured wall surfaces and sleek steel elements, subtly divide the interior into distinct zones. A standout feature is the open show kitchen, which allows guests to watch the culinary team in action – adding a layer of transparency and engagement to the dining experience.
