A new building has been constructed in Gotha that consistently combines architecture, education, and health. The basic idea follows the principle of the “prepared environment”: rooms guide rather than direct. Group areas are interlinked with play, exercise, and retreat zones. Openings and platforms create a varied topography. The tactile, warm material appearance of wood and light mineral surfaces reduces sensory overload and supports the indoor climate.

Acoustically effective ceilings and furniture fronts reduce noise levels and enable mental regeneration and concentrated play. Targeted color accents structure paths, mark functional cores, and support intuitive orientation. Climbing and balancing areas promote gross motor skills and courage, while upholstered islands and caves allow for retreat. The custom-made family of fixtures is designed for child-friendly ergonomics, safety, and everyday robustness. The Gotha nursery sees itself as an invitation: to play, explore, rest – and to grow up in an environment that takes freedom, security, and education equally seriously.
