C14 Geometric House by Bartosz Dendura PA Studio4SPACE

C14 is a residence built in the Cichy Kącik district of Krakow, a modernist enclave from the 1930s that is under full conservation protection. The small plot required the creation of a large family program (spa, cinema, spacious living area, guest apartment, 3 bedrooms), as well as a terrace, swimming pool, and landscaping to ensure privacy.

The design meets these requirements with three interconnected structures: a low, single-story pavilion with a kitchen, dining room, and living room, opening onto the terrace; a vertical “spine” with a guest apartment and the owners’ main apartment, lit by a large skylight; and a “floating” floor for children, supported by V-shaped columns. These three shapes form the building and construct its façade. Great emphasis has also been placed on sustainable solutions. Fully automated systems, a photovoltaic-assisted heat pump, heat recovery ventilation, and rainwater retention reduce the environmental impact of the building’s operation. C14 shows the architect’s role as a mediator between heritage rules, contemporary living standards, and measurable environmental responsibility.
