A-Chair

The A-Chair is an object of striking consistency: a line of squared-off wood makes its way around the sitter, with a fluid transition from leg to arm and backrest. The clear formal language here reduces sitting to the essence. In dialog with this are the interlocking wood connections: they turn a structural necessity into a unique aesthetic feature and at the same time represent a tour de force of traditional carpentry. Precisely this tension between functionality and ornamentation makes Feichtner’s A-Chair a formally singular creation. The A-Chair was made in cooperation with the Bildraum Bodensee and the Werkraum Bregenzerwald. It was first shown in April 2016 as part of the exhibition “Thomas Feichtner / Design Unplugged” in the Bildraum Bodensee.
